  Vision Correction Surgical Procedures
  LASIK (laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis)
Over 90% of refractive surgeries performer today involve the LASIK procedure. LASIK utilizes an eximer laser to precisely reshape the cornea, just as in PRK. Unlike PRK, however, the outer layer of the cornea is preserved in LASIK, which lends to a very rapid healing process and virtually no scarring. It has broad correction range for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
  LASIK with Intralase®
The newest method of performing LASIK, Intralase® involves the use of a laser to create the corneal flap instead of a microkeratome blade. Dr. Tran is the first refractive surgeon in Orange County California to perform this revolutionary procedure.
  PRK (photorefractive keratectomy)
PRK was introduced in the early 90's and was the refractive surgery of choice until LASIK technology evolved. PRK still has a strong place in surgery today, and its visual results are excellent. There are many cases in which PRK is actually a better choice than LASIK. Ask us for more details!
  Intacs®
The only non-laser form of modern refractive surgery, Intacs® involves placing tiny segments of a clear plastic material into the corneal tissue. This inert material safely and effectively corrects nearsightedness up to 3 diopters. Dr. Tran is one of the first surgeons to perform Intacs® in California. Unlike all other forms of refractive surgery, Intacs® are removeable!
  LTK®
The LTK® procedure is a safe and proven way to treat hyperopia and to reduce the need for glasses and contacts for many people over the age of 40. Using two concentric rings of laser energy outside the visual axis of the eye (where you actually "see"), the LTK procedure shrinks the eye's collagen to reshape he cornea. Because the LTK procedure is a non-contact procedure, it can be done in the office. Please visit our center to find out more about this great procedure.
